The Safe Driving Promise
About the Campaign
The National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving is committed to helping parents help their teens become safe and responsible drivers. National Highway Traffic Safety Adminitration (NHTSA) has designated the third week of each October “National Teen Driver Safety Week.” In 2015, NFTSD created and launched, “The Safe Driving Promise,” a campaign that focuses on the role of the parent in their teen’s driver education process.
The objective was to emphasize the importance of creating a dialogue between the parent and teen and the need for open and honest conversations about driving privileges. The campaign’s call to action was having teens and parents make a mutual promise to work together and establish an open dialogue as they navigate through this exciting and vitally important process of learning to drive safely.
At the campaign’s conclusion, four schools that participated in the campaign were selected to each receive a $2,500 grant to support school sponsored safe driving activities.
