About NFTSD

More teens die in automobile crashes than any other cause of death in the United States. Countless others are injured. This is a widespread problem that requires a combination of national and local actions. Working on the community level, National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving builds alliances with businesses, government, law enforcement, schools, parents and teens to prevent these tragedies. We create a culture of safety that enables teens to positively influence their peers and others to solve this problem.

Since beginning our work in 2008, National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving has evolved to become a strong and respected voice in a nationwide movement focused on teen safe driving.

NFTSD works with retail auto dealers across the country to advocate that distracted driving, especially among new and young drivers, is dangerous and potentially deadly. Dealers Driving Teen Safety is a community outreach program, created specifically for dealers, designed to give participating dealers options that work for them, to help advance the cause.

We are building upon our excellent track record, one that includes receipt of the Governors Highway Safety Association Peter K. O’Rourke Special Achievement Award for notable achievements in highway safety, the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey Innovative Award, the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award, Association for Safe International Road Travel (ASIRT) Youth Leadership Award, the Students Against Destructive Decisions’ (SADD) Outstanding Contribution Award, and honors from local community organizations. Through our involvement with organizations such as Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), the National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS) and the National Safety Council, we are uniquely positioned to advance national best practices on the local level. NFTSD we will continue to connect businesses to their individual community needs and build the alliances necessary to create a culture of safety. Working together we can prevent these teen tragedies.

OUR MISSION

STATEMENT ON INJUSTICE

National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving denounces bigotry, racism, inequality and discrimination in all its forms.

The Foundation is guided by a mission statement focused on promoting youth safety through leadership, education and awareness.

Today we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in a battle against another threat to our collective well-being and survival that has a disproportionate impact on the lives of black people and other people of color. We are outraged by senseless murders and hate crimes committed by our fellow citizens and by those entrusted to help guard our safety. We are grateful to the dedicated men and woman of law enforcement who put their own safety and well-being at risk every day. Yet we are alarmed by racism, bigotry and injustice that continues to corrupt the very systems and structures designed to maintain public order and public safety and provide protection to all our governing systems and structures.

We also believe that no parent should ever live in fear for the health and safety of their children each time they walk out the door.

National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving stands in solidarity with our brothers and sisters across the country and around the world striving for societal changes that can be achieved when we come together in unity and peacefully to raise our collective voices, demand strong leadership, education, and awareness with actionable calls to action.
